BELIEFS & STRATEGY

What We Believe

As an autonomous church we believe:

Scripture Alone

The Bible is the only inspired, infallible, inerrant, and authoritative word of God, and is the only source for Christian doctrine.

Christ Alone

Christ is the only mediator between God and man. There is salvation through no other means.

Grace Alone

Salvation comes by divine grace or “unmerited favor” only, not as something merited by the sinner.

Faith Alone

Justification is by grace alone through faith alone because of Christ alone.

The Glory of God Alone

There is one and only one living and true God. All glory is to be due to GOD alone.

Values

What we desire for you.

Know God
  • “[I pray]… that you may know Him better [personally]. EPHESIANS 1:17–18
  • “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you.’” MATTHEW 7:21–23
Find Freedom
  • [I pray]… that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened [focused and clear].”EPHESIANS 1:17–18
  • “Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.” JAMES 5:16
Discover Purpose
  • “[I pray]… that you may know the hope to which He has called you.” EPHESIANS 1:17–18
  • “We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. ROMANS 12:6
  • “All of you together are Christ’s body, and each of you is a part of it.” 1 CORINTHIANS 12:27 NLT
Make A Difference
  • “[I pray]… that you may grasp the immensity of this glorious way of life He has for His followers [in his holy people]. EPHESIANS 1:17–18
  • “This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.” JOHN 15:8, 11
  • “God has given gifts to each of you from His great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.” 1 PETER 4:10 NLT

How We Do It

Our Strategy to "HELP YOU
“DISCOVER AND EXPERIENCE THE LIFE YOU WERE CREATED FOR”

Disciple's Gather

We believe every disciple is called to be a part of God’s family and gather together regularly.

Worship & Small Groups

The church has always gathered for two reasons. Corporate worship and genuine fellowship. Gathering for worship nurtures our relationship with God as we bless Him and hear from His word. Gathering for fellowship in Small Groups connects us with each other for encouragement and partnership in the gospel.

      • Why Gather? The word ‘church’ comes from the Bible word ‘ekklesia’ which means a ‘gathering of people’. We believe disciples don’t just gather as any people, but as God’s people for the purpose of His Glory.
Disciple's Grow

We believe every disciple is called to be a learner that never stops growing.

Quiet Time & Discipleship

Spiritual growth is an expectation of walking with Christ. Two of the most powerful ways God grows us is through time with Him daily and time with others in discipleship.

      • Why Grow? The word ‘disciple’ comes from the Bible word ‘mathitis’ which means ‘learner’ or ‘student’. We believe disciples should continue to grow in their love for God.
Disciple's Give

We believe every disciple is called to be a servant who gives generously.

Financially & Through Serving

Jesus made it clear, “It is more blessed to give than receive.” We give in two ways as Christ-followers at Pleasant Hill. We give our time as servants by doing ministry side by side, and we give our treasure (money/resources) as stewards of what God has so graciously provided in our life.

      • Why Give? We believe that everything is Gods. If everything belongs to God, we are stewards to what has been entrusted to us. Therefore, it is an act of worship and obedience to give back to God a portion of what He has given to us.
Disciple's Go

We believe every disciple is called to be a missionary that goes and makes disciples.

Local & International Missions

The gospel is not a “come see” religion. It is a “go tell” message of redemption! We are called to make disciples, and we do this primarily in two ways. We share our faith daily with those around us (locally), and we leave our daily life to engage those we don’t normally encounter (internationally).

      • Why Go? We go because we have been sent! We go to our neighbors and to the nations. Jesus’ final words in Matthew 28 were a command to all His disciples ‘… Go and make disciples of all nations…
